Goodbye 2019

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’ve just reset my website (yet again) and have decided to spend more time creating a cohesive body of work that not only represents what I do as a profession, but also what I do personally in the world of photography.

I want this to be a space to talk about my adventures in photography as well as hopefully some day a place to impart any bit of knowledge I gain along the way. Some technical information mixed in with personal insight into what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.

Social Media vs Website

I still plan on posting regularly on Social Media. In fact I had a prospective client ask for my Instagram which was enough for him to hire me. He didn’t take a second to look at my website, so I understand the need in keeping a presence on social media (at least Instagram, for now).

My issue with focusing so much energy on Social Media is that I feel like I’m working within a box, a set of parameters, a way of being that leads to the most “success” if you act a certain way. Now while you certainly can be verbose on Social Media, it’s not the best platform for discussion since you’re literally one finger flick away from an advertisement for a selfie stick or face scrub. It works in getting noticed but it’s not a great replacement for a museum of work.

What’s in store for 2020

2019 was an incredible year, work wise. I can’t imagine being that busy again, but I should be so lucky. That said I can tell you that I’ll be returning the mountains to explore more landscape photography, hitting the streets for more candids of every day life and finally more portrait projects where I hope to break out of my introverted tendencies to photograph interesting strangers. Portraits will be a HUGE focus in 2020 so stay tuned for those.

Thank you again and mind the dust while I populate the site. There’s a lot of dummy information from the initial site demo that I have to replace with my own information.
